Or should I say the plan for the big move.
After living in New Jersey for all my grown-up life and for my husband, all of his life,
we are finally no longer dreaming about or talking about moving out of the the Garden State. We have graduated to actually planning.
I feel like we should get a big "great job" sticker for moving to the next level...planning. In fact, where is my gold star? I want one right next to my name on the goal and chore chart. Oh wait, I don't have my name on the chart...well let's pretend.
I gotta tell you, with every day that passes and the more we dig and get down and dirty with the planning, the fear of leaving our comfort zones of our family, friends and jobs is becoming easier and as it disappears, I can see myself and the family finally have the quality of life we dreamed of.

Currently living in Hightstown, NJ. Central to New York, Philly and D.C. |
I will miss the central location of where we currently live in Hightstown (actually, East Windsor, NJ). Being so close to New York City, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. had it's bonuses. Especially for the job market my husband is in. Thankfully, there is a great job market for what he does to bring home the bacon, so I can fry it up in a pan.
The awesomeness of this move is, we are moving with the same salary (well almost...eventually, he has to get through the probationary period first) were we can have a better quality of life. So, where are we going?

Great Smoky Mountains of Tennesee - A long way from New Jersey |
Aren't those mountains just gorgeous? We are moving to the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee! Well, not right away. Sadly the mountains will have to wait, as we make a pit
stop near Nashville, TN.
It's a good thing we like country music |
For a month or so, but no longer than a year and just so my husband can become embedded into his job, we will
make Clarksville, TN - a town just 35 minutes from Nashville - our home. Then,
we will be off to live the green acre, straw hat, John Deere life. Well, should
I say, I will be living the country life, while my husband enjoys the benefits
of it, when he comes home from off the road. I wonder if he will think my "Tractor is Sexy"? See told you I like country!
The life of a stagehand, lighting Tech/Designer...oh and the band. - Tour Bus |
14 hours and 35 minutes away to a place that neither of us have
ever been and no very little about. Why
move such a long way from home? Two
reasons. One, the cost of living in New
Jersey is raising, while the salary is not.
We want a better quality of life for our children and opportunity
provide for their current needs as well as their future.
The job market for what my husband does for a living is
better. Oh he is a stage lighting
technician/designer (soon to be, on the designing part). Let me clarify. He does this kind of stuff (It’s just way to
technical for me to explain)...
Concert lighting and stage set up...and sometimes design work too. |
While this move is more than just a bit scary, we both LOVE, LOVE,
Love the mountains. It’s my husband’s
love for the south and my sense of adventure that is taking us on our merry
little way.
So, when is this all going to happen? June 2014 (or sooner. my guess sooner)…just shy of a year from now. So
what does that mean? We plan, plan,
plan. Which is perfect, because that is
what I do, plan.
So, if you are interesting in seeing the good the bad and the ugly
of this journey, come and follow us; and from time to time send us some love by
leaving a comment or sharing a post.
